Dr Packer is an alias of Western Australia’s DJ Greg Packer who is considered as one of the pioneers of the electronic dance music scene in Perth WA with 35 years DJ Experience behind him, countless DJ awards, 10 international DJ Tours , 24 years studio experience and his now defunct Drum & Bass record label ‘Interphase Music’ he is no stranger to the music business.
In the later half of 2013 greg began playing around with old ‘Soul, Funk & Disco’ records in the studio and applying the same technique as if he was writing an original Drum & Bass track and the results have been overwhelming to say the least!
Dr Packer was born!!! Within months he had topped the ‘Juno Download , Beatport & Traxsource’ Sales charts and had been signed to labels such as ‘Z Records, Midnight Riot, Hot Digits, Masterworks Music, Good For You Records’ and caught the attention of DJ’s such as ‘Joey Negro, John Morales, Greg Wilson, Dimitri From Paris, Late Nite Tuff Guy, Simon Dunmore (Defected)’ resulting in appearing in ‘Greg Wilson’s top 20 edits of 2017 6 times with 6 edits and again in 2018. He has remixed songs officially from ‘Bootsy Collins, Jocelyn Brown, Chaka Khan, Freeez, Colonel Abrams, Joey Negro, Robert Owens, CarlCox, Purple Disco Machine, CandiStaton, Lenny Fontana, Shirley Lites, The Shapeshifters , Loleatta Holloway , First Choice , Skyy, Salsoul Orchestra , Kathy Brown , ATFC , Full Intention, Pete Heller, Ralphi Rosario, Soulsearcher, Newcleus, DC LaRue and many more....
Dr Packer also took the number 1 position in the ‘Traxsource’ top 20 ‘Soul Funk & Disco’ artist of 2017, 2018, 2021 and most recently #5 Artist over all genres 2023. Defected Records have also taken an interest with bookings at their Glitterbox events in ‘Ibiza , Croatia , London Ministry Of Sound and several Australian National Tours’ they also requested plenty of remixes resulting in 2 full length album projects ‘Different Strokes Vol 1 & Vol 2’. Dave Lee FKA Joey Negro also called upon his services to release a full length album ‘Operation Disco’ on his Z Records Label receiving the 6th best selling album on Traxsource for 2021. Salsoul Records have requested 4 remix Eps from Dr Packer’ to remix some of their classics including ‘Loleatta Holloway’s’ disco anthem ‘Love Sensation’ which took out the number one spot on the ‘Beatport’ soul & funk top 100 sales chart. In more recent times labels such as ‘Fool’s Paradise, Nervous Records, Quantise, West End, SAM Records, Easy Street, Champion Records, DJ International, M2MR, Soulfuric, Toolroom, Tinted & Club Sweat‘ have all requested his remix services.
Since September 2020 Dr Packer has entered the world of radio with a monthly resident show on‘’Street Sounds Radio’’ a UK based record label that he grew up listening to throughout the1980’s. Switched On Music an Australian based website awarded ‘Dr Packer’ as ‘Australian Producer of the year’ 2020. More recently he won ‘Best Electronic Producer 2022’ at the WAMI’s (West Australian Music Awards).
In the DJ world Dr Packer has recently supported various acts at clubs & festivals such as ’Dimitri From Paris, Joey Negro, Basement Jaxx, Roger Sanchez, Derrick Carter, John Morales, Todd Terry, Jellybean Benitez, Soul Clap, Late Nite Tuff Guy, Purple Disco Machine, Faze Action, Greg Wilson, DJ Spen, Crazy P, Jazzi B (Soul II Soul), Sonny Fodera, Sam Divine, Simon Dunmore, Eli Escobar’ he also has played at ‘London (Ministry Of Sound), Ibiza (Space & Hi Ibiza), Defected Croatia, Standon Calling (Hertfordshire), Guildford (UK), Glasgow, Newcastle (Hoochie Coochie), Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Southampton, Birmingham, Stoke On Trent, London Brixton Jamm & Prince Of Wales, Denmark, Sweden, Barcelona, Marbella, Madrid, Bulgaria, Italy, Germany, Bali (Indonesia), Singapore, Abu Dhabi, New Zealand, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and his hometown Perth.
